Country and Footpath Group

The Country and Footpath Group is concerned with protecting the Green Belt and the surrounding countryside. The Group examines significant planning applications outside the built-up town area and arranges regular Sunday country walks, see the walks page, in order to preserve the network of footpaths with the intention of reporting obstructions or other problems to local Councils.

Meetings of the Group, previously held on the third Tuesday of the month in the Vestry of the United Reformed Church (next to Tilbury Hall), are currently in abeyance pending the election of a new Chair.

The post of Footpath Co-ordinator is also vacant and the Society is looking for volunteers to fill these positions, as well as additional walks leaders.
